Laurentia Tan finishes fifth in Paralympic dressage, advances to freestyle final

Tan scores 72.857% in Grade I Individual Test to take fifth spot

Singapore's Laurentia Tan finished in fifth place after the Grade I Individual Test (Para Dressage) on Tuesday (Aug 30) in the Baji Koen Equestrian Park at the Tokyo Paralympics.

Tan and Fuerst Sinclair II qualify for Wednesday's freestyle final

Riding her 11-year-old gelding, Fuerst Sinclair II, Tan scored 72.857 per cent to take fifth spot behind Italy's Sara Morganti, who took top spot with 79.429 per cent on Royal Delight.

Tan's score was enough to qualify for Wednesday's freestyle final, where she will be aiming to improve on her fifth-place finish in the same event at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.

Tan now ranked world No. 4 in Grade I para dressage

The 30-year-old Singaporean is currently ranked world No. 4 in Grade I para dressage, and her performance in Tokyo is a testament to her hard work and dedication.

Tan has been riding since she was a child, and she has competed in para dressage since 2011. She made her Paralympic debut at the London Paralympics in 2012, and she has since competed in the Rio Paralympics in 2016 and the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020.

Tan's success is an inspiration to all Singaporeans, and she is a role model for people with disabilities around the world.
